New TSC Grading System For Teachers- New Salary Scales Per Job Group as Per the 2021-2025 CBA

The implementation of the Third Remuneration Cycle for teachers is outlined in an addendum agreement to the 2021-2025 Collective Bargaining Agreements (CBA) signed by the Teachers Service Commission (TSC) with the Kenya National Union of Teachers (KNUT), Kenya Union of Post Primary Education Teachers (KUPPET), and Kenya Union of Special Needs Education Teachers (KUSNET). The agreement reviews the remuneration payable to teachers and will be implemented in two phases.

    • The second phase applies to teachers who will be in service at that time.

House Allowances

House allowance rates are categorized into four clusters, each covering specific regions. The rates for Clusters 1, 2, and 3 have been retained, while the rates for Cluster 4 have been reviewed and will be implemented in two phases. The first phase has been factored into the August payroll with arrears backdated to 1/7/2023.

  1. Cluster 1: Nairobi City
  2. Cluster 2: Mombasa, Kisumu, Nakuru Cities, Nyeri, Eldoret, Thika, Kisii, Malindi, and Kitale
  3. Cluster 3: Other former
  4. Cluster 4: All other

Implementation of Cluster 4 Rates:

  • The rates for Cluster 4 will be implemented in two phases.
  • The first phase has been included in the August payroll, and arrears will be backdated to 1/7/2023.
